Waterproofing Primers

Substrate sealing and adhesion
Single-component water-based primers used to seal and consolidate the substrate and to strengthen adhesion of the waterproofing layer above.

Single-component water-based primers used to seal and consolidate the substrate and to strengthen adhesion of the waterproofing layer above. Film-forming, fast-drying penetrating, multi-purpose reinforcing and inorganic types are available for new or aged concrete, friable surfaces and chalked substrates.

Compound Membrane Systems

Main waterproofing layer
Single-component membranes based on water-based polymer resins with aggregate or anti-crack fibre, curing to a continuous elastic film.

Topcoats

Applied over the waterproofing layer to provide finish, UV protection and thermal insulation.

Flexible Cement

Two-part resin and aggregate systems
Two-component systems combining a water-based resin with selected inorganic aggregate, curing to a tough film that is both elastic and high in strength.

Standard, copolymer emulsion, heavy-build (up to 3 mm in one pass) and vinyl resin types are available, along with pressure-sensitive adhesive and injection grades.

Plugging and Crystalline Systems

Remedial treatment for active leaks
Hydraulic cement-based compounds.

Hydraulic cement-based compounds. Rapid-set plugging mortar cures in 3–5 minutes and immediately stops water ingress through cracks and honeycombing. Crystalline penetrating grades react with the concrete to form crystals that seal pores and micro-cracks, and can be applied to damp surfaces.

  • Plugging mortar stops water instantly and will cure under water
  • No shrinkage after curing; high structural strength
  • Contains no metallic constituents; will not rust or expand
  • Crystalline grades remain vapour permeable and protect reinforcement from corrosion

Clear Protective Coatings

Stain and weather resistance
Transparent protective layers applied over topcoats or decorative finishes to improve stain and weather resistance.

  • Hydrophobic, dust-shedding film with self-cleaning behaviour
  • Resistant to acid, alkali and weathering; protects the decorative layer from colour change
  • Available in gloss and matt finishes
  • Non-yellowing grade leaves the original appearance of the building unchanged

Two-component polyurethane waterproofing systems offering toughness, elasticity and reliable resistance to water ingress. The range covers membrane, elastomeric topcoat, thermal layer and non-sag joint sealant, and can be used with a single-component PU primer.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose a roof waterproofing material?
Confirm four things first: substrate type and condition, drainage, whether the roof takes foot traffic, and the number of workable days available. For a standard flat concrete roof the build-up is primer, compound membrane and topcoat. Roofs that pond water or take traffic are better served by a solvent-based PU system.
What is the difference between flexible cement and PU?
Flexible cement is a two-part resin and aggregate system with the best compatibility with concrete, suited to internal wet areas and free of odour. Solvent-based PU is a two-part polyurethane with the highest film strength, elongation and water resistance, suited to ponding or trafficked areas, but it costs more and requires accurate mixing.
The roof leaked again within two years. Is that a material fault?
Usually not. The most common causes, in order, are: applying over a substrate that is still too wet; failing to remove chalking and failed coatings; coating over cracks without reinforcement; poor detailing at parapets and outlets; and insufficient coverage or inadequate recoat intervals.
How do I calculate how much material is needed?
Area × coverage rate × number of coats. For example, 100 m² at 0.6 kg/m² over two coats requires around 120 kg. Rough substrates increase consumption, so allow an additional 10–15% when estimating.
Can material be applied to a damp surface?
Most water-based products require moisture content below 10%. Crystalline penetrating and plugging materials are the exception — they rely on moisture to react with the concrete and form sealing crystals.
