Three requirements, three build-ups
Waterproofing only — primer plus compound membrane, typically where the wall will later be covered or on secondary elevations.
Waterproofing with finish (most common) — primer, then flexible cement or compound membrane, then an elastomeric topcoat that serves as both protection and finish.
High-end finish (stone appearance) — the full multi-colour stone-effect system of seven layers, for projects wanting the appearance of granite without the weight and installation cost of stone.
Elastomeric topcoat
A single-component water-based acrylic polymer with selected pigment, ready to use from the pail. It cures directly after roller application to an elastic, high-strength and durable film with a high sheen.
Coverage is around 0.2 kg/m² per roller coat; touch dry in 4 hours, recoat at 24 hours. Available in white, grey, beige, green and off-white.
Elasticity is the critical property — external substrates move with the day-night temperature cycle, and a rigid film will crack along the movement.
Reflective thermal coating
A water-based polymer combined with insulating fillers, achieving 65% or more solar reflectance. Alongside waterproofing it provides thermal, temperature-stabilising and mould-resistant performance, reducing heat gain and cooling load.
Coverage around 0.8 kg/m² in two coats. Suited to west-facing elevations, metal roofing, corrugated sheeting, steel panels and container units.
Clear protective coating
A transparent layer applied over topcoats or decorative finishes to improve stain and weather resistance. Available in gloss and matt (5–10 GU), at around 0.05–0.1 kg/m².
Suitable over coated surfaces, exposed aggregate, power-floated cement, board materials and tiling. The film is hydrophobic and dust-shedding with self-cleaning behaviour, extending the interval between redecoration.
A solvent-based non-yellowing grade is also available, which leaves the original colour of the building unchanged — useful when refurbishing an older building while retaining its existing tone.
Multi-colour stone-effect coating
A water-based multi-colour coating closely reproducing natural granite, formed in a single spray pass with over 90% visual match. A single product carries five or more colour particles that merge on spraying to reproduce the veining and tactile quality of stone.
The complete system runs to seven layers: substrate, levelling, penetrating sealer primer, pigmented base coat, stone-effect coating, clear topcoat and joint coating. The joint coating divides the elevation and is central to the realism of the result.
The main coat requires a dedicated spray gun and a correspondingly specified compressor set-up. A single elevation takes around four to six working days from preparation to completion.
Site conditions
- The surface must be dry, with moisture content below 10%
- Air temperature above 10°C and relative humidity below 85%
- Make good laitance, honeycombing, cracking, damage and depressions before coating
- Provide protection to prevent overspray affecting surrounding areas
- Colour and texture should be submitted as a sample panel and approved by the client and supervising officer before work proceeds
